After six months of job hunting, let’s say you finally found a job with Company X But it’s in a city 700 miles from your home A week after starting to work, you receive a job offer from Company Y that would increase your salary by 10 percent and would move you to a city closer to your home You want very much to leave Company X to accept Company Y’s offer However, you are troubled because you told Company X that you would stay and it has begun to train you You feel particularly guilty because many nice people have made a special effort to welcome you and get you started in your new position


Your task

·--In teams or individually, decide on an action to take Begin by asking whether the action you are considering is legal

·--Looking at the problem from Company X’s perspective, how much harm would be done by your leaving? What will Company X lost if you leave?

·--What are alternate solutions? Is it entirely a money issue? Would you be happy with a higher salary at Company Y?

·--Can you discuss the problem with someone whose opinion you value? Should you consult someone at Company X? Your family? Friends?

·--How would you feel if your family, friends, employer, or coworkers learned of you action?

·--Present your decision in class discussion or in a memo to your instructor Support your decision with your reasons
